During the half term holidays, The Aldridge Cricket Academy put on a ‘Train Like A Pro’ holiday camp with former Aldridge cricketer and current Sussex pro, Will Sheffield, dropping into the camp to give some tips to the young stars and answer many of the inquisitive questions the young cricketers had about what it is like to live life as a professional cricketer.

The day saw huge success with smiles on faces throughout the whole day. The camp was themed around T20 cricket and we looked a variety of different aspects such as executing yorkers at the end of an innings, bowling variation balls, power hitting, hitting 360 and accessing all areas of the pitch and much more fielding elements. It was pleasing to see, despite the age differences, all players getting stuck in and challenging their skills as well as one another.

We finished the day with a mini tournament, offering a chance to put all their new skills into practice in a competitive situation.

What an excellent day to be a coach and a huge thanks to Will Sheffield for giving the cricketers a great insight into the day to day life of a pro cricketer.

Check out a few snaps from the day.
