This half term The Aldridge Cricket Academy hosted a ‘Train Like A Pro’ cricket camp which was a huge success and a very enjoyable day.
We were delighted to have Chris Adams (Former Sussex Captain and Surrey Coach) come down and view some of the quality batting on display from all the children during their power hitting session, along side hosting a Q & A afterwards, which offered a valuable insight into what training like a pro looks like and what it takes to make it to the top. We ended up having to cut it short as the questions just kept flowing which was pleasing to hear.
The day saw some high intensity fielding paired with some fun and enjoyable agility games, plenty of explosive power hitting drills, a wide variety of bowling challenges including hitting our yorker tunnel, alongside exposure to important bowling drills assisting to develop speed and strength, enabling Bowlers to bowl with more pace and accuracy. We finished the day with some nets to give the Children an opportunity to apply some of the key skills they learnt from the day, some even took on the challenge of facing our demon spin machine ‘Merlyn’ designed to replicate spinning conditions seen in parts of the world such as India and Sri Lanka.
It was an all round fantastic day with nothing but smiles on faces throughout, what a pleasing sight to see such talent of differing ages in one room.
Keep a look out for future cricket camps here at The Sir Rod Aldridge Cricket Academy.
